10 most-read Wikipedia articles of 2020 – Latest News


2020 was a year where the pandemic dominated the headlines and became the biggest talking point all over the world. Perhaps it comes as no surprise that it was also the most-read article on Wikipedia. 2020 was also the year when for the first time “in the (short) history of this list, more than 50 articles got over 10 million unique views!”, noted Wikipedia. Wikipedia has shared a list of top 50 but here we bring you the top 10.

COVID-19 pandemic: 83.8 million views
No surprise seeing the pandemic top the list. As per Wikipedia, the article hit its peak on March 12 — a day after the WHO declared it a pandemic — and saw overall 83.8 million views.

Donald Trump: 57.06 million views
The outgoing president of the US was the second-most read article on 2020. The article’s peak was attained on November 10, the day when Trump started talking about lawsuits alleging election fraud.

Deaths in 2020: 43.56 million views
