Apple to make ‘big announcement’ today, says CBS – Latest News

Apple is reportedly set to make a major announcement today (January 13). But before Apple fans raise their expectations, please note that it will not be a product. CBS This Morning has shared a short video clip of an upcoming interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook in which he is said to make a ‘big announcement’.

CBS also shared the same via its official Twitter account. “#EXCLUSIVE: @GayleKing spoke with @Apple CEO Tim Cook about the assault on the Capitol and what he thinks needs to happen next. See more of @tim_cook’s interview Wednesday on @CBSThisMorning when he’ll announce a major new initiative, that’s not a new product,” goes the tweet. The tweet shares the video clip as well.

While previewing the interview King said that Cook didn’t sit and say “You know, I want to sit and talk to CBS about this.” “This was an interview that was scheduled because they have a big announcement that they want to announce tomorrow. It is not a new product, we should say, it’s not a new product. It’s something I think bigger and better than that. So we did an interview, and we did it at the Apple Store here, and he’s at his headquarters, and he agreed to answer other questions. But that wasn’t the purpose of the interview. What we’re going to tell you about tomorrow is very exciting,” she added.

The interview is said to have been conducted remotely, with Cook at the company’s Apple Park headquarters and King at an Apple Store.

Speculating what the announcement could be, Apple analyst Neil Cybart tweeted, “An “Apple Stores as vaccination sites” announcement makes sense to me. 1) King did the interview at an Apple Store. 2) Vaccines are certainly more important than new products. 3) Apple has been very aggressive in trying to help where it can regarding battling the pandemic.”

“Looking through my mentions, a few people think Tim Cook’s announcement will be related to privacy. I suppose that qualifies as being “not a product.” Another point to consider – it may be easy to miss, but CES is taking place this week,” he added in another tweet.
