Slack users, change your password right now – Latest News

If you use Slack for Android, then it is highly advisable that you change your password immediately. Slack is informing users that between December 21, 2020 and January 21, 2021, the messaging platform had stored passwords in plain text and any malware or other apps may have got access to your Slack login credentials. As a preventive step, Slack has sent emails to all affected users to change their passwords immediately, as per a report by
Android Police.

While changing passwords, remember to use a unique one and do not use the same password that you may use on other platforms or banking sites. Go to your Slack profile, tap on More and then Account Settings.

Also, clear the cache of the app and update to the latest version of the Slack Android app from Google Play. If you wish, you may want to uninstall the older app and proceed with a fresh installation as well.

Not to forget, if you have repeated the password that you had for Slack on other platforms, then change the password of those websites or apps too. Remember, your password may be there out in the wild and it could be used by unwanted people to access accounts of others platforms.

Last month, Slack faced a downtime and users faced connectivity issues with the platform. More than 15,000 users had initially reported issues, according to outage tracking website Down Detector. The messaging app had over 142,000 paid customers at the end of third quarter.
