According to a report by TechCrunch, Tile is developing a new tracker that relies on ultra-wideband technology and will give competition to Apple’s AirTags. This new tracker of the company will be different from the other Bluetooth devices offered by Tile right now.
As per the report Tile will include ultra-wideband technology in its new tracker which will go beyond Bluetooth and will be able to record directional and spatial data. This will offer an enhanced experience in terms of finding the lost items.
The report has also got hold of some internal concepts which shows how the upcoming tracker from Tile will look like. The internal concepts of the upcoming tracker show that the new Tile tracker will look like its other small trackers. It will also sport a square shape and come with a centre button and a flat back. Like the other Tile devices, users will also be able to attach it to a keychain.
The report also suggests that the Tile app will also allow users to launch an AR-enabled camera view which will help in guiding them to the item’s location using overlays. The trackers are expected to release later this year and will support both Android and iOS operating systems.
The yet to launch Apple AirTags are also said to come with Ultra-wideband technology and will also use AR to help users find the lost item. Apart from Apple, Samsung is also expected to enter this space with the launch of Galaxy SmartTags. The company is expected to launch the device at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event.
